The ingredients needed to make Farahar idli:
- Prepare 1/2 cup yogurt
- Take 1 cup samo rice (barnyard millet)
- Prepare 1 teaspoon green chilli paste
- Take 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
- Get 1/2 teaspoon citric acid
- Prepare 1 tablespoon desiccated coconut
- Take 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Take 1 carrot finely grated
- Get 1/2 teaspoon eno

Steps to make Farahar idli:
- In a sieve rinse sama rice thoroughly under running water. Transfer it to a bowl and add water to soak the sama rice. Soak for couple of hours. - Remove water from sama rice and - transfer it to a food processor.
- Add yogurt, lemon juice, ginger paste, chilli paste, coconut and salt into the food processor. Pulse until batter is smooth. Transfer the batter in a bowl and add the grated carrots. Grease the idli moulds and boil water in the idli pressure.
- Add citric acid and ENO to the batter and whisk for 2-3 minutes until fluffy and frothy. Spoon the batter into the greased idli and steam for 7 to 8 minutes or insert a toothpick and check. The toothpick should come out clean. Turn off the gas and remove the idli moulds. Allow it to cool for a few minutes. Gently remove the idlis from each mould and serve hot with coconut chutney. - Alternatively you can make dahi vada as well.
