The ingredients needed to make Idali Sambar:
- Prepare For Idali batter
- Make ready 2 cups raw rice/ Idli Rava
- Prepare 1/2 cup whole urad daal
- Prepare 1 tbs fenugreek seeds
- Make ready 1/4 cup poha
- Prepare Salt as per taste
- Get For Sambar
- Take 1 cup boiled toor daal
- Get 1 cup steamed vegetables like:
- Prepare carrots, drumsticks, brinjal, ladies finger,beans of your choice
- Prepare 2 tbs tamarind pulp
- Prepare 1 tbs Sambaar powder
- Get Salt as per taste
- Prepare 1/2 tbs sugar/jaggery
- Prepare For tadaka
- Make ready 1 tbs oil
- Take 1/2 tbs mustard seeds
- Take 1/2 jeera seeds
- Get 1 string curry leaves
- Get 2 red chillie
Once they start spluttering add curry leaves,dry red chillies,asafoetida and garlic cloves. Fry well and add roughly chopped shallots. Idli Sambar Idli is a popular South Indian dish which is loved and relished across the country. It is a typical dish made from batter prepared from rice, urad dal, Bengal daal, and a few other kinds of cereal as well.
Instructions to make Idali Sambar:
- For Idali : Take rice/Idali rava and daal in one bowl wash it and soak it for 5-6 hours add fenugreek seeds. Soak poha for 10 mins before grinding. After soaking, grind everything to smooth paste and keep it for fermentation for overnight. Next day Take a Idali stand apply oil and pour batter after adding salt. Steam it for 10-15 minutes and Idali is ready.
- For sambhar: keep a pot on medium flame add 1tbs oil, jeera and mustard seeds let it cracker add chopped vegetables stir for 1 minute. Add tamarind pulp and add water add little salt and cover with lid and let all vegetables cook. After 10 minutes add Sambaar powder of any brand and add cooked daal. Add sufficient water as per requirement consistency. Mix well and let it boil.
- For Tadaka: keep a Tadaka pan on medium flame add 1tbs oil add mustard and jeera seeds once oil is moderate hot add red chilies, urad daal and chana daal stir for few seconds add curry leaves and a pinch of asafoetida and switch off the flame. Put the tadaks on sambar snd its ready to serve hot with idali.
